So you have an idea for an App?
So lets just jump in there and start building right?
WRONG!
This is how good App ideas with good intentions become clunky Apps or worse, never get off the ground at all!
Prototyping is your key to success! No matter how small or large your App, prototyping will make your dreams a reality.
Here is our process:
- Requirements Gathering – There are LOTS of different philosophies on how to gather requirements, but most people perform interviews with the key stake-holders in any project / App build. They then need to translate those requirements into the constraints of the Knack platform. This requires that the builder be intimately familiar with Knack and how Knack performs.
- Visual ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) – An ERD is a visual representation of the Objects in Knack that are needed to support the requirements. For example, a car dealership that wants to track the vehicles in their inventory.
- Swim Lanes (workflow) – Identifying roles in your app is another key ingredient for a successful build. In the example above you can see we have “Customers” and “Sales” but what does that mean? How do these roles interact with each other? Building a visual representation of the workflow is the answer.
